Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 fans are excited to witness its Campaign mode next month. More than that, they are eager to see their favorite characters returning from last year’s MWII. Sledgehammer’s game will see Task Force 141 members like Price, Ghost, Gaz, and Alex coming back. However, the roster may end up adding one more Operator to the team!

It can be called a wild rumor for now, but few players have been wondering about a mysterious character who was recently teased by Call of Duty. Ever since its appearance on social media, a lot of theories have been doing the rounds. One of them suggests that an iconic, but forgotten, Task Force 141 character from 2009 may eventually return with MW3.

Is Operator Roach really coming back with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign?

Gary “Roach” Anderson was one of the main playable characters in the original Modern Warfare 2. Being a Special Forces Operator, he belonged to Task Force 141. He was under John “Soap” MacTavish’s command. During the most heartbreaking moments in the game, Roach was shot by General Shepherd. The latter had also killed his fellow teammate Simon “Ghost” Riley. Although Roach also died in that sequence, fans these days now remember Ghost’s death the most, due to him being more iconic and popular.

Roach is again in the news, thanks to a cryptic social media post from Call of Duty’s account on X (formerly Twitter). It recently shared an unidentified image of a new Task Force 141 character while asking the fans to predict his name.

While the post is part of a contest, hardcore players are deeply interested in the mysterious Operator, more than anything else. According to online speculations, it seems like this Operator could be none other than Roach himself. There’s a reason why it could be the case.

In MW2, Roach’s appearance was mostly kept under wraps, but several mods did help in finding out that he wore a round helmet. Similarly, the Operator in the post is also probably sporting a helmet. There’s no previous character from Task Force 141 who’s got an appearance like that. For now, however, it’s just nothing more than a theory. Simply put, fans will have to wait for the Campaign to come out and find the answer.

This year’s FPS premium will consist of a refreshing take on the single-player mode. Unlike past installments, MW3 will feature a non-linear format for certain missions. Players will get a feeling of being inside an open-world experience. It will be made possible thanks to the addition of open-combat missions. Players will get to craft new strategies, come up with unique loadouts, and take a dynamic approach in order to complete the quests.

Moreover, the Campaign will also bring back Verdansk – the map that was first introduced in 2019’s rebooted Modern Warfare. After a long gap, fans will witness its presence. But it’s yet to be seen whether it will play a key role or not in the entirety of the Campaign.
