Waiting for Death Stranding 2? A cryptic tease dropped by Director Hideo Kojima might be hinting at some interesting progress. The sequel to 2019’s action-adventure classic Death Stranding is being eagerly awaited by gamers. But there hasn’t been much revealed officially by the developers. Well, fans believe the silence has been broken with a Kojima-styled subtle tease.

Ever since the title was teased at the Game Awards 2022, there has been plenty of speculation around the progress of the project. However, no one can come close to an update teased directly by the creator of the game on quite a special day. A recent tweet by the creator may have hinted at some advancements made in one of the “Kojima Productions”, and here’s why we believe it’s for Death Stranding 2

Thanks to a post on X (formerly Twitter), fans got a glimpse of Hideo Kojima’s work desk. And the work in the frame seems to have garnered a lot of attention from the community. The picture shared by the director shows a screen with “Kojima Productions” hinting at some post-production work going on.

What makes the picture more special is the fact that November 8 marks the anniversary of Death Stranding, which was released on this day 4 years ago. So, deducing a theory that claims this might be his style of teasing with the progress of the sequel seems highly plausible. Moreover, following everything that’s been known about the project, a post-production phase perfectly aligns with the schedule.

The buzz around Death Stranding 2 is special not just because it is a follow-up to a successful sequel but also because it is a prodigy of Hideo Kojima. The Japanese video game designer is unarguably among the most celebrated gaming developers of all time. After the creator parted ways with Konami, Death Stranding marked his homecoming as ‘the director’. Thus, the upcoming sequel to the label brings a lot of excitement and expectations to the table.

The expected release window for Death Stranding 2

Earlier in May 2022, the face of the game, Norman Reedus, who will return as Sam Porter, revealed that production had just started for the sequel. And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that,” he had stated in an interview.

Funny enough, Kojima tweeted later, in an apparent response to Reedus talking about the game. Kojima posted a tweet with images of himself with Lucille (Negan’s infamous bat in The Walking Dead), and with Lucille in his hand and Reedus on his knees.

Later in December, the developers dropped the first teaser of the game as a “working title”. The teaser had left every action fanatic impressed and fans were looking forward to what followed. While the game didn’t showcase any direct gameplay, it laid strong expectations from the story and character perspectives.

For instance, things changed since Sam Porter Bridges removed his Cuff links and severed his connection with the Bridges corporation. You’ve just seen the trailer and I’ve put a lot of things inside, so I want you to talk about it and find details in it,” Kojima talking about the teaser claimed.

It’s almost certain with everything known about the game that it won’t be releasing anytime before the second quarter of 2024. Still, a possible tease from the veteran genius is nothing less than a treat. Happy Anniversary Death Stranding!
