The rumor of the GTA V logo being inspired by the US $5 Bill started back in 2011. An image by a Reddit user was uploaded on 26 October 2011 of the $5 bill with what seems like the GTA V logo on it.

As seen in the picture, the logo for GTA 5 does seem to be heavily inspired by the bill. Upon closer inspection, it’s hard to deny the striking similarities between the two. The GTA V logo features a prominent Roman numeral “V” set against a background of intricate patterns and geometric shapes, all rendered in a bold, black-and-white color scheme with a green background.

Meanwhile, the 1890 $5 bill boasts a similar arrangement, with a large numeral “V” at its center, surrounded by intricate engravings, ornate details, and an elegant black-and-white design.

Although Rockstar seems to have taken some inspiration, it does not look completely the same. There are a few small details that set each of them apart. The main difference between the two is the fact that the logo has a banner on which the words “five” are written compared to the bold and shadowed style used in the $5 bill.

GTA V fans unite in their agreement for the inspiration

The GTA subreddit is always full of fans sharing their experiences and thoughts about the game. Over the years, many fans have pointed out the resemblance between the logo and the bill. Some of them have shared pictures of the comparisons. One user posted a side-by-side image of the two and one comment humorously jokes about Rockstar printing literal money.
