Rumored Asus ROG Ally specifications

Twitter leaker SnoopyTech recently retweeted the alleged specifications of the ROG handheld. Asus had already confirmed the handheld console will run on an AMD chipset, which is revealed to be an AMD Ryzen Z1 Series chipset in the Tweet. The device also could have a ROG intelligent cooling system for better performance, with Armoury Crate SE. Armoury Crate is a software utility, designed to provide services like key remapping, control panel overlays, and performance profiles.

The Tweet also stated that the device will have 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM, Dolby Atmos compatible speakers, and a MicroSD slot. Earlier rumors stated that the device would have 1 TB of storage, but now it has been reduced to 512 GB SSD storage.

The post projects the ROG Ally to weigh roughly 608g. With a weight of 669 grams and a 2-inch thickness, the Steam Deck is noticeably larger than the ROG Ally. This isn’t the only area where the Steam Deck lacks behind its upcoming rival.

A major differentiating factor between both consoles is the operating system. The ROG Ally will run Windows 11 OS. While there were rumors about Windows developing an OS for Valve’s device too, currently it runs on a Linux-based OS.

The Tweet stated the display of the ROG console has a 7-inch FHD screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a brightness of 500 nits. Asus already revealed to give an ASUS XG Mobile external GPU port in its upcoming console. This would raise the console’s display resolution from FHD to 4K. This is a significant improvement over Steam Deck’s 7-inch 720p, 60Hz refresh rate screen.
