It has been almost 3 years since the gaming industry experienced the grandest gaming show, E3, in person. The situation caused by the Coronavirus pandemic has compelled the past 2 iterations to be limited to the digital medium. Now, latest developments have revealed that for the third time in a row, E3 2022 will not be a physical event.

The organizers have reportedly canceled the plans to host a physical exhibition for the fans this year. At this point, it is quite unclear whether the event will take place or not, as no updates about digital events have been shared just yet.

Reports from industry analysts suggest E3 2022 is uncertain

The gaming ecosystem is going to miss its biggest event for the third year in a row. Major studios across the world had plans to host live stream events with elaborate video packages of every major release. Now, according to another report by IGN, things aren’t looking good for the event.

The new update suggests grim news for both developers and gamers. This year, not only is the physical event canceled, but the entire expo could be at the risk of being scrapped. The organizers haven’t offered any updates about the future of the expo and how they would like to take things forward in 2022.

ESA has also shared a statement about the decision, clarifying their stance on the event.

The expo is only a few months away and given the state of the world and health concerns, E3 can also find itself being pushed for a later point in this year. The past two digital iterations of the event were quite successful, which suggests live streaming is a great solution to tackle this unprecedented problem.
