Simulation sports are a fascinating gaming genre. It allows you to explore a sport without actually having to go through years of training to play the sport in real life. When it comes to racing, these games become even more important, since there is a lack of opportunity, resources, and ability. There looks to be new news on the racing simulation games front, and it is not the Formula 1 game, but a jump into the NASCAR world.

A prominent NASCAR insider, Adam Stern, posted about a new announcement for the sport with video games. Speculation suggests Codemasters is developing a NASCAR title under EA, marking a return to NASCAR for EA.

NASCAR remains one of the top motorsport competitions in the world. As a result, it did not take a lot of time for developers to create a game based on the sport. After all, who could say no to driving some of the fastest cars at unimaginable speeds and winning titles?

Among the plethora of publishers working on NASCAR games over the years, EA was one company. They were consistently a part of creating the game, publishing on multiple occasions between 1997 and 2009, almost dominating other publishers working with NASCAR. However, as sales for the game fell, EA pulled out in 2009, ending its association with NASCAR.

It might not be that much of a surprise. Codemasters, EA’s subsidiary company, has expertise in the world of simulation racing. Codemasters are the developers behind the Formula 1 gaming series. Moreover, with the growth of the esports scene with most racing sports, NASCAR might want to work with EA, a company whose game is well established in the scene, to grow the NASCAR esports scene, moving away from iRacing.

While word of a new EA-developed NASCAR game does sound hopeful, a lot of speculation is based on information found on Wikipedia. The website is not a particularly trustworthy source of information. The announcement from NASCAR may be about a new game, but there is no certainty that Codemasters are developers apart from the Wikipedia update. Once the announcement comes, there will be a better idea of the situation.
