Nintendo has seen a lot of record success this year with the blockbusters like Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. However, it looks like the winning streak might get broken with an upcoming title from the developer and publisher.

The game in question is Nintendo Switch Sports, which is finally releasing on Friday for the Switch. But the early impressions for the title are not indicating a positive opening, at least going by the review scores from critics.

For those not uninitiated, Switch Sports is a simulation based game featuring a total of six sports this time. They include tennis, bowling, swordplay (chambara), soccer, volleyball, and badminton. Golf will also arrive later, as a new addition during fall.

The upcoming title is the newest entry in the Wii Sports franchise. Nintendo Switch Sports will see players using the Joy-Con of the Switch console to enjoy various sports.

While the project is yet to open worldwide, early reviews have already begun to surface online. And it seems like the overall situation is not promising enough for Nintendo Switch Sports. Because a majority of the critics have given it an average response.

Starting with IGN and GameSpot, then the two reputed outlets gave it a score of 7 out of 10 each. Although it’s not bad, it’s not great either to say the least. Wccftech has given it an even lower rating of 6.5 out of 10. On the other hand, Inverse was impressed with the game, as it gave it a good score of 8 out of 10.

In terms of overall aggregate rating, Nintendo Switch Sports is looking to be an above-average release. That’s according to the widely followed website Metacritic, on which the game is currently having a Metascore of 74 percent. It’s based on 26 critic reviews as of this writing.

Seeing such an early response from critics, the fans who were thinking to go for it, became quite confused. Some of them, however, were unaffected from the lower scores as they showed an interest to buy it when it comes out. On other hand, few others were highly skeptical of the game’s actual performance.
