Ed Boon Reveals John Wick, the Gun-Slinging Legend, Was Supposed to Feature in Mortal Kombat 1

We’re one day away from Mortal Kombat 1‘s standard edition release and anticipations are sky high. The newest entry to the franchise promises to make all the fans’ wishes come true with new gameplay mechanics and a long list of characters. While we know that many familiar characters will be coming back with the upcoming game, a range of characters from other worlds will also come to dominate Outworld.
Fans are excited about exploring the skills of Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 1. And now, the game’s director has recently revealed one character that eluded the devs yet again.

Boon revealed that the devs pondered about casting Keanu Reeves as Kenshi in Mortal Kombat 1. In fact, he even entertained the idea of having actors for all characters. He stated in an interview, “What if every character in this game was played by an actor?”
Mortal Kombat 1 promises a wild journey ahead
Mortal Kombat 1 looks worth the wait. With a long, long list of new and old characters coming to fight it off once again, we believe that MK1 will set the standards for fighting games yet again. The multiple trailers so far look to develop a new story narrative and create a plausible premise for the ongoing celestial war among realms.

While John Wick would have had a lot to offer to the series, there are other things to look forward to as well. A recent explosive announcement alerted us that Hollywood superstar Jean-Claude van Damme will be seen in the game playing Johnny Cage. Jean-Claude Van Damme will step into the Mortal Kombat universe for the first time in 30 years. And that is something the entire community will be looking forward to.

Meanwhile, there’s no telling how massive the impact would be if John Wick made it to the franchise, and Keanu Reeves himself played the role.
