Epic Games has been quite busy lately. 2020 has been a rather busy year in the Fortnite community, with online concerts and various collaborations taking place. Recently, Epic Games acquired a shopping mall near its current headquarters in North Carolina to turn it into a new base.

In fact, the company has had its headquarters in Cary for more than 20 years now. However, it seems as though it wants to enlarge its base now by shifting to the 87-acre site. The Fortnite developer aims to make this change by 2024.

Epic Games wants this space to be “used by the community”

Epic Games made an official announcement that it has acquired the Cary Towne Center mall for $95 million. Furthermore, the development of the 980 thousand square foot campus for its new headquarters will begin soon. The company aims to create a recreational zone in this area along with the office space.

Epic is collaborating with the Cary town officials to browse ways in which the community can use this space. Further, Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht seems to look forward to this renewed collaboration with the gaming company.
