The second trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet dropped on June 1 and showcased everything we could expect from the duo. In fact, the game is all set to drop on November 18, 2022. From new species of Pokemon to never-before-seen 4-player co-op, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Pokemon title.
Scarlet and Violet will feature an Open World
Open world is not an expected feature in any Pokémon games. Even in Pokémon Legends Arceus, players were allowed to explore Hisui only according to what the campaign dictated. Yes, there was some open-world factor to the adventure in Arceus, but it didn’t feel right to many.

With Scarlet and Violet, the franchise finally broke character and introduced an unrestricted open world that players can freely explore. While there’s definitely a campaign in the game, it will not restrict your adventure in any way. Take a peek at any corner of the map you like!
There will be a 4-player co-op featuring new characteristics
The only feature remotely close to a co-op experience in mainline Pokémon games was the option to trade Pokémon with friends. In Pokémon Legends Arceus, the introduction of Lost Satchels also brought about a bit of change.
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, we will be getting to experience the four-player co-op for the first time ever in a Pokémon title. Not only this, but players on a team may also be able to experience separate in-game scenes at the same time. However, a separate multiplayer experience isn’t yet confirmed, so let’s put a pin on that until the launch!
Get ready to welcome 3 new Pokémon species
Fans will be seeing three new species in the world of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, namely Smoliv, Pawmi, and everyone’s favorite, Lechonk. In fact, fans have quickly gone from ‘nay’ to ‘yay’ after they met Lechonk in the trailer! Lechonk is our cute pig of the ‘Normal’ type while Smoliv and Pawmi belong to the ‘Grass/Normal’ and ‘Electric’ types respectively!
As a first partner, trainers will get to pick one from three adorable Pokémon – Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.
Check out the elegant legendaries of Scarlet and Violet
The latest trailer also showcased the legendary Pokémon duo, Koraidon and Miraidon, in separate footage at the end. Honestly, both look equally graceful and powerful!
Koraidon will feature in Pokémon Scarlet while Miraidon belongs to Pokémon Violet. Not much has been revealed about these two, but fans expect them to be a part of the campaign’s ‘boss battles’.
More NPCs, more interaction
You’ll be controlling the main trainer character depending on the version you choose. Pokémon Scarlet features a female trainer while in Pokémon Violet, you’ll be controlling a male trainer.
