The Fandom of The Last of Us has increased tenfold thanks to its ongoing series. The games have already won a number of fans and have already earned their share of praise. What viewers of this series were not aware of was the fact that it is not as easygoing as people thought it would be.

It turned out that The Last of Us is a series way too real. Its characters do not miraculously escape their fates. It would not be too far-fetched to say that with its sad conclusion, and its shocking cold opens, this series takes away a part of us.

The Last of Us starts in a typical American home. Father loves his daughter to death, but that ends tragically. This is where the series tells its viewers “Hey, this is not How I Met Your Mother!”

The series jumps a few years and Joel is now as hard as stone. He listens, talks, eats and fights, but there’s not much purpose to what he does. This ends when Ellie enters his life. He and Tess take her as a precious cargo. While delivering this cargo, they meet yet another tragedy.

The Last of Us Episode 7 Review: The Things We Leave Behind

His long-time partner perishes after getting infected by a bunch of walking ‘mushrooms‘. The series does not hold back its punches. The first of its kick came when we met two brothers, Henry and Sam. This duo is trying to escape a deadly fate and Joel and Ellie join them in doing so.

While the protagonists do escape, it does not fare well for the brothers, and that too happens in the cruelest of ways. After all this and more, we saw Joel using his last few breaths sparingly after he was recently stabbed by an unknown enemy. Everything that has happened in this series till now has brought a world of hurt to its viewers. It gives its fans no break.

As we lose ourselves bit by bit with every episode, we wonder if there’s anything planned to put the fans’ minds to rest. After playing the game, we know for sure there are things that can lower this weight. But are the creators willing to show those things is a different matter altogether?
