The Need for Speed series has yet to see a meaningful comeback. The recent game in the series, Need for Speed: Unbound, got a positive reception from gamers and critics alike, but the game was not the kind of success Electronic Arts must have wanted it to be.

When one thinks about it, the last major success in this franchise was probably Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2012. EA and Criterion Games released it as a reimagining of the 2005 game, which was a massive success. But now EA seems to have decided to bring the original back!

And that is why this game was reimagined in 2012. EA gave the legendary developer Criterion Games the responsibility to develop that game. They did a commendable job too; it was a Need for Speed title and a good one too, but fans failed to see Most Wanted in it. That led to a lot of disappointment from fans. The game was a critical and commercial success, but fans of Most Wanted remained disappointed.

It appears EA is looking to rectify that now. They seem to be working on a remake of the original Most Wanted. This information came from several sources. One of them was the actress who played a character in the original game’s story. She then deleted her tweet, which said “Need for Speed: Most Wanted Remake is being released in 2024”.

The actress then made a similar post on her Instagram account too. This means the game’s development is well underway and is close enough to completion for EA to already have a launch date. This would be an exciting thing to see as this is the first time that EA has considered fan requests and brought back a Need for Speed game in its original glory without any twists.
