Bethesda’s upcoming giant has been dominating social media trends for a while now. With surreal hype, Starfield is already a solid contender for the Game of the Year. The Sci-Fi creation has been advertised as one of the finest open-world experiences ever introduced to the gaming community. Every glimpse provided by the makers has only added to the excitement around the game. There are constant speculations running around the scale of the cosmic open world.

Recently an anonymous Starfield player made a statement that caught the fans’ attention. The player who had early access to the game emphasized the scale of Starfield as a Sci-Fi exploration. After every insight that’s been provided on Starfield to date, the ship-building feature evidently seems to be the highlight of all.  While there have been plenty of games that have previously attempted to explore shipbuilding, Starfield might have just created the ‘perfect’ space pirate experience.

To understand the ship’s exploration and expansion, we must dive deeper into the 45-minute-long gameplay released by Bethesda. The gameplay was received exceedingly well by the gaming community. There were plenty of intriguing insights that had the fans thrilled. From introducing features like ship invasions to cross-ship battles, the ‘ship talk’ was the pick of all the promised features. As the developers have advertised Starfield to be a treat for enthusiastic space engineers, we decode the scale of some of the ships revealed in the gameplay.

  • The Cargo

This has to be the first ship that comes to mind when we talk about scale. Through the initial glimpses, the ship appeared more like a cool cargo craft. The ship is seen landing on a massive pad. It has four massive cargo containers on each side of the gigantic structure. The makers smartly gave a teaser of the scale of the structure by comparing it to a man standing next to the ship.

The human standing in front of the ship on one of its decks looks like an ant trying to climb a mountain. Even the weapon system seems larger than the man standing!

A ship-building interface from the gameplay also revealed the size of one of the ship’s engines. The analytical data floating on the screen suggests the mass of one engine is 334.

Well, for context, the Frontier ship which will be the player’s starter spacecraft weighs 359 mass as a whole. The building interface suggests the engines at a 40-50 meter distance from the center. Assuming the spacecraft maintains proximity, the total length might turn out to be as huge as 100-110 meters.

  • Mysterious Starfield Carrier

Another massive ship that was a topic of fan theories was the mysterious carrier. The important thing to note about the carrier is it had four starter ships attached to its body. With the visual that was revealed, the starter ships seemed like a tiny body part of the giant. We can also see a larger fleet temporarily docked to its side. The bits and pieces of the visuals suggest this one be a larger or maybe the largest ship in Starfield.

  • The Mech Ship

The tallest ship revealed by the makers yet. This one is a standout from the previous two due to its height. It gives us the idea that players can create massive structures in vertical engineering as well. For comparison, the vertical height seemed similar to the Cargo ship in length.

Also, the structure seems inspired by a robotic entity so there’s certainly no rigidity on how the players design the ships. Of course, until the structure can stand the hostility of outer space.

These three ships are just a trailer of how big the players could potentially go. The team working on the ship-building feature had suggested that the players would be able to replicate every ship they come across in the gameplay through the feature. Moreover, a lot of fan theories speculate that ships go as big as 200 meters in any direction. During one such candid interaction, one of the devs had claimed the ships to go as big as the Empire State Building!
