The ongoing console rivalry may be keeping the fans on edge, but it isn’t ideal for some gaming developers. Recently, the producer of PlayStation exclusive Final Fantasy XVI made an interesting statement. Addressing the ongoing race of console giants for title acquisition, Final Fantasy XVI producer desires a ‘single gaming platform’.

Final Fantasy XVI is one of the most successful releases of 2023. The game came out in June for PlayStation 5 as an exclusive. The action role-playing giant was developed by Square Enix. The latest release of the much-loved series took the gaming experience to another level. But unfortunately, it couldn’t reach the community beyond PlayStation owners. Well, it seems like this might have bugged the Final Fantasy XVI producer, as he rooted for a “better” option.

“I probably shouldn’t say this…”: Final Fantasy XVI developer ignites interesting theories 

Naoki Yoshida, the producer behind the creation of Final Fantasy XVI made some interesting statements during his latest interview. During his candid interaction with a Taiwanese YouTube channel, the developer expressed his concerns about the ongoing rivalry.

The creator feels the need for the unification of all the consoles, giving the players a single gaming platform. The latter also went on to explain his take on to explain how this would be a better advancement for both gamers and developers.

Yoshi-P’s statement can be translated as, “Game platforms… I probably shouldn’t say this, but I wish there was only one. It would be better for both the developers and the players.” While the creator visions unification through his perspective, the gaming community had a mixed reaction.

Most gamers believe a hypothetical industry having a single gaming console would take away power from the consumers. Currently, the consumer response and power to pick is a huge motivation factor for console manufacturers. The lack of alternatives might make it possible for one company to have a monopoly.

However, a lot of gamers agreed with the Final Fantasy creator.

The Xbox owners had to wait almost a decade to have an update on the Final Fantasy XIV Xbox release. Earlier during the promotions, Yoshi-P had also expressed a desire to have a PC version released. Considering Final Fantasy XVI would be taking its own time to reach the wider audience, the fan concern also seems reasonable. Here’s how some of the fans reacted to the statement.
