Nvidia’s latest 40 series GPUs have been very controversial ever since its release. Among many criticisms, one of the most prominent was the absurd price tag of the GPUs in the 4060 and 4090 series. But after a storm of criticisms and backlashes the hardwares have finally witnessed a price drop in the European market.

The RTX 4060, which arrived last week, received lukewarm reviews and faced consumer apathy, particularly due to its unfavorable comparison with the previous-generation RTX 3060. The lackluster reception further contributed to the negative sentiment surrounding the product.

VideoCardz, a reputable source, recently discovered that the Lovelace-powered RTX 4060 is already being discounted in Europe. One popular German retailer, Mindfactory, slashed 20 euros off the GPU’s price, bringing it down to €310.39.

Interestingly, the same retailer reportedly sold only ten units of the RTX 4060 on its launch day. The 6% price reduction within days of its release is unprecedented for new Nvidia graphics cards. While there is currently no indication of similar price drops in the US, it wouldn’t be surprising if the situation changes in the near future.

The RTX 4060’s struggles are not limited to Europe. In Japan, where consumers typically line up to secure new cards on launch day, the image was quite different. Instead of crowds, only one individual was seen waiting at a major PC store, and he was merely upgrading his GTX 1060. This indicates a lack of demand and enthusiasm for the new GPU.

Interestingly, despite its underperformance compared to the RTX 4060 in certain games, the RTX 3060 has been rapidly climbing the GPU chart in the Steam survey. In fact, it recently became the second-most-popular graphics card among participants. This trend suggests that consumers are opting for the RTX 3060 instead, favoring its performance over the newer model.

Price reductions could be severe in an effort to retain profit margins if this trend of weak sales persists, even in other nations. Although there haven’t been any price reductions in the US market yet, it might not take long for changes to be made in response to the difficulties the RTX 4060 is having.
