Alexis Ohanian pens down the future of the gaming industry

On May 31, 2023, Alexis uploaded a bunch of tweets on his account. The angel investor spoke about the need for video games to have a play-to-earn model. He said, “Within the next 5 years, the majority of gamers won’t play games unless they are being properly valued for that time. The model is called “play-to-earn” and it will become standard for video games in the future.”

The investor stressed how Club Neverdie, from Entropia, was sold for over $635,000. And mind you, this was 2010, the time when Bitcoin was nothing but a baby. Then, Alexis also added comments on how Axie Infinity was already on a roll to create the model, which could be the game-changer.

In simple words, the investor claimed that the gaming industry would see a sharp decline. After all, who would want to keep playing video games for free when you could earn something from them? Well, to support his theory, Ohanian also shed light on the world of CS:GO, where someone recently bought a half-a-million-dollar cosmetic.

Talking about it, he said, “It’s wild still seeing sales like this $500,000 for a CS-GO skin a month ago.” So, if Alexis Ohanian believes the future of gaming to have a play-to-earn model, then it could simply be true.

Last but not least, Serena’s better half is still bullish on the crypto scene as he claims it to have more potential. Despite the FTX collapse and Binance issues, Alexis aims for a positive future for the crypto world.
