Are you a fan of Hogwarts magic? Well, Avalanche Studios’ Hogwarts Legacy is expected to offer quite an original experience of the iconic school of magic! The game, featuring a vast free to roam, open world of magical origins, will launch in Holiday 2022. For the unaware, Hogwarts Legacy will be an action role-playing game set in the Wizardry World of 1800s.

Although the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was first introduced in the Harry Potter books, the institution actually existed way before Harry Potter’s lore. As a result, fans will not be seeing common characters from the beloved fiction series by JK Rowling. But, everything else will stay true to the lore involving the institution and the world of magic!

To keep fans hooked, the developers have been leaving around a lot of mysterious clues for us to keep speculating. For example, popular creator AndyReloads on YouTube mentions how the team has already revealed 80 spells that will feature in the game. Here’s us quoting the top 5 spells that are expected to feature in the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy!

Avada Kedavra

The first on this list is a Dark Magic spell and one of the three Unforgivable Curses. Although the developers confirmed the presence of Dark Magic in the game with Avada Kedavra’s feature, we don’t know whether players will be able to yield the remaining two Unforgivable Curses as well.

Avada Kedavra, also known as the Killing Curse, is a dangerous spell and will cause instant, painless death to a living target. The only known counter to the Killing Curse is Sacrificial Protection.

As Potterheads may know, Harry was the only known one to survive the Killing Curse because of the Sacrificial Protection he had due to his mother’s sacrifice.

Incendio, Descendo, Flipendo, and Diffendo

Four of the most versatile spells, Incendio, Descendo, Flipendo, and Diffendo, will make their way into Hogwarts Legacy as the gameplay reveal showed. Incendio lets witches and wizards light up their targets with fire, which could be used for general purposes or to deal heavy damage in duels.

Similarly, Flipendo is a jinx for duelists that lets them knock their target backward and to push around heavy objects.

Diffendo is a charm that wizards and witches can use to cut things accurately, but can do some serious damage when used incorrectly. Lastly, wizards and witches can use the Descendo Incantation to move a target downwards or make them fall.

Arresto Momentum

As the spell’s name suggests, Arresto Momentum slows down momentum. Using it, wizards and witches will be able to slow down the speed of moving objects, living beings, and people.

Daisy Pennifold first discovered this spell. She used it to slow down falling Quaffles, so that Chasers can pick them up mid-air. When used in the right way, the spell can tackle a fatal fall and even slow down an enemy during attacks.

Expelliarmus and Wingardium Leviosa

Potterheads would definitely know these two spells! Two of the most iconic spells that Potter used frequently were Expelliarmus and Wingardium Leviosa. Expelliarmus is a disarming spell, meaning it will unequip whatever the opponent holds, making it a great option in duels.

On the other hand, Wingardium Leviosa is a levitation charm that can make objects fly or levitate. Both of these are basic spells with confusingly similar mechanics, and will appear in Hogwarts Legacy for players to utilize!

Confringo

Another favorite spell among the duelists, Confringo, or the Blasting Curse, can explode any target. When used right, the spell is extremely powerful, as the iconic series demonstrates a couple of times.
