While we still eagerly wait for confirmation regarding the Nintendo Switch Pro and new games, resurrecting some old ones can help. One such game that is currently gaining traction is Star Fox Zero.

The game originally came out for Wii U back in 2016. PlatinumGames and Nintendo’s own EPD (Entertainment Planning and Development) team led the development with Mario designer Shigeru Miyamoto supervising the project.

PlatinumGames is now looking to bring back the same experience to Nintendo Switch if given a chance.

Star Fox Zero: PlatinumGames wants to remaster the game for Nintendo Switch

In an interview with Video Games Chronicle, the studio head of PlatinumGames, Atsushi Inaba, stated that if Nintendo gave a green light, the developers would “definitely” want to create a new version of the game. He further added that any potential changes would be up to Mr. Miyamoto.

To the question of whether PlatinumGames would be eager to develop a Switch port of Star Fox Zero, Atsushi replied, “It’s not cool that people aren’t able to play older games because they’re locked out of the platform, so of course if anything was possible we’d like to bring over any of those older titles to the newer platforms.”

If Nintendo is on board with this proposal, it would really be an excellent means for players to relish the older title in a completely new avatar. Atsushi further asserted, “It kind of depends on what’s in the realm of actual possibility, but yeah, if the chance came up it’s definitely something we’d like to think about.”

While Platinum wants to resurrect Star Fox Zero, the ball is entirely in Nintendo’s court. The major issue the title faced earlier was due to its complex control design. Players had to keep switching between the TV and Gamepad. This could be easily resolved if a Nintendo Switch port is released, as it could be implemented in the Portable mode on a single screen.

Whether or not Nintendo agrees to remaster Star Fox Zero will depend on several things, starting with the much-rumored Nintendo Switch Pro.
