Well, this makes complete sense. Some extremely loved and popular PC releases, such as Horizon Zero Dawn, are extremely popular among players. And these people, now, are extremely excited to play its sequel when it releases on PlayStation consoles in 2022. Basically, the idea is to create a whole new fanbase for the upcoming PlayStation exclusive sequel games.

However, Shawn Layden retired from his position two years ago, so his news on PC gaming may be a little out of date. Maybe Sony Interactive Entertainment has changed its plans after the pandemic and PlayStation shortage issue. Overall, there is quite a strong chance that Sony’s internal conversations are totally different today than 2 years ago. Only time will tell if Layden’s words are correct this time as well. Above all, nothing has been officially cleared out yet, so take everything with a grain of salt.

Why release popular titles on PC at all?
According to Sony Interactive Entertainment, the delayed release for PC helps the company get a higher profit on exclusive games (console) such as Horizon Forbidden West and Days Gone. Jim Ryan (SIE boss) in an interview with GQ, highlighted the point that the cost of making games for consoles is extremely high. And selling copies to break even is also very difficult nowadays as many people are still unable to get their hands on next-gen consoles thanks to the pandemic and shortage issues all over the world.

Now players have to wait a bit to see how PlayStation developed the PC plan over time. But for now, we know that at least the company is committed to planning a release for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves very soon.
