To ensure ongoing excitement and intensify the competitive scene, Fortnite is gearing up to introduce a new mode called “Ranked Mode.”
Anticipation ran high among fans for the upcoming update. Although the release was postponed by 24 hours from May 16, fans speculated that the delay was necessary for additional fine-tuning of the Ranked Mode. However, in an official announcement, Epic Games confirmed that the beloved Trios Mode in Fortnite Battle Royale would be vaulted.

Fortnite removes the Trio team-ups from the game
Trios, a game Mode that debuted as a core part in Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 5 after initially being available as a Limited Time Mode, offered squad-based combat with a maximum of three players per team. Following standard rules, 99 players would enter the match, descend from the Battle Bus, and engage in battles until only one squad emerged victorious.

On May 17, 2023, the official Fortnite status account on Twitter shared saddening news, stating, “Please note that with the launch of v24.40, we will be vaulting the Trios team size in Battle Royale and Zero Build.” The Tweet was also attached with an official blog. Unfortunately, this blog had no further information as to why the mode was removed.
Will the trio mode ever return?
While there is a possibility of Trios making a comeback, potentially attracting players to return after a period of absence, its current absence lacks a clear explanation. Players will have to wait for further details from Epic Games to understand the reasoning behind the removal of Trios. Regardless of the outcome, it is advisable not to develop strong attachments to any of the current modes, as the future plans of Epic Games remain uncertain.

The term “vaulted” typically indicates a temporary removal, suggesting a potential return for Trios in the future. Trios will eventually reappear, but the specific timing and duration of its absence remain ambiguous.
