Verdansk is not just a map from the past for Call of Duty fans, it’s an emotion. Its significance for a lot of players is related to their iconic experiences from Warzone, back in 2020, when the title was first released. Unfortunately, both the original battle royale, as well as the map, are gone forever in the present game. Speaking more of the map itself, it’s been almost two years since Activision removed it. But now it looks like there’s still a silver lining left—thanks to Fortnite!

Epic Games recently revealed a special season under Chapter 4. Definitely, it brings back all the memories from the original Fortnite game in 2018. It seems like the nostalgia effect is running in full flow for Fortnite. Just recently, its active player count has crossed the mark of 6 million. In short, the overall figure has skyrocketed as there are more active users than ever before.

A simple gesture of giving back fans the old feeling has resulted in Epic Games attracting record number of players. Which means there could be a chance for Verdansk to return as well, according to an insider’s prediction.

Detonated on X shared an interesting observation regarding Fortnite OG and how its success can pave the way for Verdansk’s comeback. He tried to imply that every publisher wants to have a large and active player count. Given the fact that Epic has already proved the power of nostalgia, Call of Duty could be the next franchise to follow such route. Plus, it will be beneficial for the FPS series itself.

Upon giving back a map like Verdansk, the makers may eventually witness an unprecedented number of players. One can’t even imagine how much the original Warzone fans will embrace this move. After all, they will get to revisit the old days once again.

Interestingly, Activision’s latest installment Modern Warfare 3 also features Verdansk in some capacity. The makers can eventually work on it going forward to make it available in Multiplayer modes or the current iteration of Warzone. Else, they can simply reveal the actual map itself. But will this possibility become a reality? Only time will tell the answer. However, if something like this happens, COD will definitely get a major boost in its player count – that is certain.
