Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox and PC Has a Chonky File Size; Available for preload

Forza Horizon 5 is one of the prominent exclusives for team Xbox and Microsoft ahead of the release of Halo Infinite. Recently, the developers behind the upcoming Forza game shared that a major milestone in the game’s development has been reached and that the game has gone gold.

Another new information via Playground games has been shared regarding the file size and preload of Forza Horizon 5, making it look like the game is on track for its scheduled release on November 9, 2021. Here’s what you need to know about the file size and preload details of Forza Horizon 5.

Forza Horizon 5 can now be preloaded, provided you either have purchased the game or have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription. In a recent blog post, the developers have said that users who buy the disc version of the game “may also preload the game today” with the help of the Xbox app on smartphones. To do this, you will first need to search the game in the Store and press the download to console option to initiate the download process.

As for how much space you will need to run the game, here are the storage capacity requirement based on the platform you want to play:

  • Xbox Series X|S: 103 GB
  • Xbox One: 116 GB
  • Windows: 103 GB
  • Steam: 103 GB

However, one thing to note here is that the developers haven’t shared any details about the preload timings for players who get the game on Steam. The blog says that the developers will share further information about preload times on Steam.

While the size of the game looks humungous, the developers have taken advantage of the new hardware to lessen the size. Alan Walsh, in the blog, says, “we’ve reduced the install footprint of Forza Horizon 5 on those systems by optimizing our assets for higher bandwidth streaming.” However, it is great that the game won’t be delayed, and this new information will further strengthen players’ beliefs.
