Going by Kuo’s analysis, then the PlayStation VR2 may witness a start in its production later this year. It implies that the headset might release in the first quarter of 2023.

In his tweet, the analyst wrote the following:

“My latest supply chain check suggests that the assembler and several component providers of PS VR2 will start mass production with about 1.5M units shipments in 2H22. Sony may launch it in 1Q23, depending on the development schedule of PS VR2 game titles.”

Simply put, the launch of the PlayStation VR 2 will also depend on when Sony plans to release its new PSVR 2 exclusive games.

Moreover, Kuo also mentioned that the next generation of the headset will also comprise built-in cameras. The first PSVR didn’t have this feature at all. Instead, it had a camera attached to the PS4 to track the player’s head movement.

Although Ming-Chi Kuo is a trusted insider, this latest detail should be taken with a grain of salt. One cannot fully believe that PlayStation VR2 will arrive early in 2023 unless Sony officially confirms it in the coming months.
