Massive Entertainment is known to work on games that are not quite Ubisoft games. Their first game ‘The Division’ was developed on their in-house Snowdrop engine. The game got positive reception at launch; fans were excited as they immensely loved it. The thing that stood out the most in that game, was its graphical visuals.

Simulated snowfalls and very detailed environments made The Division stand out amongst its competitors. Only thing was that the game was not able to grab was player’s attention as long as its competitors Destiny, etc did.

Yet, it was a hit and it was a big enough hit to justify a sequel. Its sequel ‘The Division 2’ was not much successful. Its failure had its reasons, but lack of visual fidelity was not one of them.

Why are we talking about visuals? Because Massive entertainment creates games on an engine that is not Anvil, the engine that powers most of Ubisoft’s titles. And Massive understands how to design big and huge detailed worlds.

Hence it does not come as a surprise when it was found out through Battlefront Updates’ tweet that this upcoming Star Wars game would be an open-world game with a striking amount of detail in its world. It would also have a seamless universe akin to that of No Man’s Sky. And it would allow players to jump from system to system while doing missions and side missions. Thus, it appears that Massive has a massive task at hand indeed and surely the community is waiting to see how it turns out.

Massive entertainment is working on one more high-profile game

Aside from the upcoming Star Wars game, Massive Entertainment is also responsible for making Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. This licensed game again would be based on the Snowdrop engine and as the trailer showcased a while ago, it would have a very detailed open world as well.
