Besides Starfield, there are a bunch of games that are being listed as Game of the Year contenders quite evident in the list. Also, a lot of surprises in the industry this year have performed critically better than Bethesda’s open world. Although Starfield has been dominating the fan trends as they root for its crowning as GOTY, some gamers have already started predicting that it might not be enough for the Xbox exclusive.

Baldur’s Gate 3, a CRPG that may be one of the biggest gaming industry surprises in recent memory. The RPG genre has seen some changes because of this game. Even newbies can enter it without feeling overwhelmed thanks to developer Larian’s design. Over and above that, its incorporation of co-op and some D&D-inspired components has really made it a memorable title. We wouldn’t be shocked if it ended up providing fierce competition for others this year.

Since Spider-Man 2 hasn’t launched yet, there isn’t much to say about it at this time. But Insomniac Games, its creator, has a pretty solid track record.
