PlayStation 5 owners have been lucky in terms of games. From Horizon Forbidden West to God of War: Ragnarok, there has been no shortage of quality single-player experiences on Sony’s console.

The only thing that had numerous PlayStation 5 users worried was the lack of games that were specifically made for PlayStation 5. There’s a common belief amongst PlayStation 5 owners that when developers make games for both PlayStation 5 and 4, then they have to make several compromises due to the limited power of PlayStation 4 compared to its next-gen successor.

But it seems like 2023 would be the year when we would start seeing more games specifically made for PlayStation 5. So let us take a look at a few games that are explicitly being developed for PlayStation 5.

Final Fantasy XVI

This is the latest installment in the long-running Japanese role-playing game series Final Fantasy. It has been in development exclusively for PlayStation 5 for years now but was only announced in September 2020.

Fans are loving its visuals and the details that they hold; it looks like they are not leaving a single stone unturned in making this game a visual spectacle on PlayStation 5. There’s also news going around that this game is rated Mature for S*x Scenes and Hate crimes, which is the first for the series.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Insomniac announced this game at the unveiling of the PlayStation 5 console. It would serve as a direct sequel to the celebrated 2018 superhero spectacle. There has not been a gameplay trailer of this game to showcase its visuals yet.

But going by how good Spider-Man 2018 and Miles Morales look, fans are expecting the sequel to exceed them in every way.

This action game based on the famous Marvel comic character is also being developed by Insomniac games. This game is said to be on its way to PS5 in 2023.

And as is the case with other Insomniac games, fans are expecting it to be very impressive in the visual department. Although any gameplay details regarding this game are lacking, it is being said that maybe this game would be a Hack and Slash title in line with the 2019 Wolverine game, which was developed by Raven Software.

Rise of the Ronin

A dark open-world action RPG set in ancient Japan. This game was announced by Team Ninja exclusively for PlayStation 5. The gameplay shown portrayed this game as an Open world adaptation of Nioh. And if fans are to be believed, it would be ground-breaking.

Some fans are also calling it Elden Ring with Ninjas, just like they called Nioh Dark Souls based in China.

Stellar Blade

For fans, Stellar Blade is Sony’s answer to Nintendo’s Bayonetta. Currently, in development under the Japanese studio SHIFT UP Corporation, this game was revealed by Sony in September 2022 at one of their PlayStation showcases.

This is another game that would be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Fans are really hyped for this upcoming hack-and-slash adventure. And those fans do not have to wait very long, this game is slated for 2023.

So these are the few games releasing in 2023 that would exclusively be coming to PlayStation 5. Taking full advantage of its horsepower, its RDNA 2 features, and its super-fast SSD, fans are very eager to see what is possible when developers are not restricted by PlayStation 4.
