Gamescom is the digital contact point between gamers and developers. For years, Gamescom has been the most anticipated gaming event of the year featuring some of the biggest releases. This year, the gaming extravaganza will take place in Cologne, Germany, starting August 24th with a showcase from Xbox and Bethesda. Besides this, the Opening Night Live and Future Games show presentations will feature popular indie titles. These are some of the highly demanded games we are looking forward to seeing at Gamescom 2021.

The Xbox showcase will kick the event off with news about the latest games coming to the Xbox Games Pass. Halo Infinite is almost a necessity at the event following its disastrous reveal at E3 2019. While developers have kept fans in the loop via the Inside Infinite blogs, the gameplay of the campaign mode is yet to be seen.

Hellblade 2 is the sequel to 2017’s Senua’s Sacrifice. The game was originally announced at the Game Awards 2019 with an epic trailer. However, everything it showcased was in CGI, and we have not gotten to see much gameplay since. Thus, it is almost inevitable that we will be seeing this Xbox and PC exclusive title in Cologne.

Major releases are set for the next two days

Gamescom Opening Night Live is a two-hour broadcast that will take place on August 25, 2021. As usual, Geoff Keighley will play the host and unveil over 40 games. The new Lego Star Wars game is a title that has all but been confirmed for the event. Though WB is not listed as an attendee for the event, it could make an appearance as part of Xbox’s third-party range. Any other Star Wars titles from developers such as Ubisoft or EA are also welcome additions to the event.

The Future Games Show takes place the following day and features the release of some anticipated indie games. Daedalic Entertainment is currently only said to be working on their 2022 release of Gollum. As a result, The Lord of The Rings: Gollum should be making an appearance at Gamescom 2021 since Daedalic are listed as attendees.
