Ubisoft’s XDefiant might overshadow Call of Duty in the future

XDefiant is an upcoming multiplayer arena shooter. It’s being developed by Assassin’s Creed publisher Ubisoft. For more than a year, its makers have been running closed beta tests with select users in order to get their feedback. And going by the reactions so far, this FPS title is looking solid. So much so that some people are already calling it a COD killer, even before an official release.

Considering the increasing hype going around it, popular streamer and content creator ModernWarzone recently shared a Tweet. He wrote that the gaming community now actually wants a real Call of Duty competitor. Because the devs at Activision are doing nothing to improve the current circumstances. The streamer also hoped for Ubisoft’s ambitious FPS title to succeed massively.

Meanwhile, many other notable figures also believe that XDefiant is capable enough to outperform Call of Duty. Robert Bowling, who’s the studio head at 12AM (the developer behind Dr Disrespect’s upcoming game Deadrop) wrote in a Tweet that Ubisoft’s project is a refinement of what COD was a few years ago. “COD made a choice to move away from it’s roots and origins, it’s expanded to be an “everything shooter”. XDefiant knows what it is and does it well.”

Other people on social media also expressed their own predictions for XDefiant. Most of them think that it has the potential to compete with COD in the long run.
