Yet another video game awaits being adapted into a live-action movie. Ghost of Tsushima was announced to get its movie almost two years ago. But the SAG-AFTRA strikes had bogged down its development process since the movement spread its shadows over the gaming industry. However, director Chad Stahelski has revealed the upcoming movie’s script is finally complete, and further pieces are waiting to fall into their place.

The SAG-AFTRA strikes are making ripples across industries. After bringing the movie industry to its knees, the movement now looks to gain more support in the gaming industry. While the movement is based on justified reasons, it is also hampering the production and release of multiple anticipated projects. Stahelski hopes the circumstances get better soon so that Ghost of Tsushima fans can step into the world of ancient Japan.

In a recent interview, Stahelski mentioned that the script is finally ready and the team is “very close to getting our s**t together”. Stahelski also mentioned that the Sucker Punch title is an IP that has intrigued him intensely and he can’t wait to start working on the movie. However, the ongoing scenario in Hollywood isn’t making things easier, explains the director.

However, Sthelski revealed that the script is finally ready after a long road of tribulations and further production can move forward. But a lot of things need to be taken care of, says the director. “Development is always tricky, it’s studios, it’s strikes, and availabilities, and scouting“, elaborated Stahelski during the interview.

Stahelski is known for his John Wick movies. The Hollywood director also is an avid fan of Asian culture and arts and sought to pay homage to one of the continent’s greatest filmmakers through his emphasis on Japanese sword-wielding techniques (kenjutsu) in John Wick 4. Stahelski’s inkling towards such details and his love for Akira Kurosawa makes him the perfect fit to direct the Ghost of Tsushima live-action movie.

Ghost of Tsushima is set on the island of Tsushima during the Mongol invasion of Japan. Players can opt either to play the game with honor, in accordance with the rules of sword fighting, or end the game with the least number of casualties. Take on the role of a Japanese samurai and avenge your clan that has been wiped out by the invaders.

The game also has a unique black-and-white filter named “Kurosawa Mode” to allow players to be immersed as they explore the Japanese landscapes. With so many details and nods to Japanese culture, Ghost of Tsushima serves as the perfect playground for Chad.
