Seán William McLoughlin aka Jacksepticeye is one of the content creators on YouTube who has been on the platform from its early days. Jack was one of the most significant influences in shaping the gaming content formula of YouTube. So, to appreciate the gamer and his contribution, YouTube shared a tribute. However, things didn’t go as planned.
The Youtuber has been active on the platform for more than a decade. In his earlier days, he used to post content twice every day. This dedication to content creation allowed him to be one of the faces of YouTube gaming, along with PewDiePie and Markiplier. Jack is one of the few Creators who have over 5000 videos on his channel. Despite his stature in the community, YouTube made a mistake when honoring him.

But the social media team of YouTube missed a small yet significant detail. On his tribute post, Jack himself replied saying, “Can’t believe right after my 10 year anniversary last year it’s my 16th this year. Time flies!” correcting that he has been active on the platform for 10 years, not 16. Jack even celebrated his 10-year anniversary with a video recently.

Fans were not quick to forgive YouTube for their gaffe.
Fans slam YouTube for their error
The fans soon poured in replies to share their theories and opinions on YouTube’s error. They started memeing YouTube and the social media staff. However, there were some individuals who pointed out what had happened. They shared that Jack created his channel back in 2007, although he uploaded his first video 6 years later. So technically, Jack has been on the platform for 16 years, but he has been active for 10 years.
It does say you joined YouTube on 24 Feb 2007. The crazy part is that 2007 was 16 years ago!!

In a recent video on his channel, Jack talked about how in these 10 long years, he has been through a lot and learned. One complaint that he has was in the ever-shifting environment of online content creation, somewhere he thinks the creator and their audience are losing touch. While communication and interactive technology make giant leaps every day, people are losing touch.
