God of War Adaptation Might Face Effective Issues as PETA Prohibits the Use of Animals After the Incident at The Rings of Power Set

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, condemned Prime Video for using animals after a tragic incident with a horse on the sets of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” But it could also cause problems with the video game adaptation of God of War.

Following HBO’s successful adaptation of The Last of Us, the video game world is about to get another one. Prime Video has teamed up with Santa Monica Studios and Cory Barlog to make a TV series based on the events of PlayStation‘s hit series God of War.

PETA’s anger against The Rings of Power can cause problems for the God of War adaptation

According to the reports by Variety, a horse died because of a cardiac arrest ahead of rehearsals for the shooting of The Rings of Power. This incident has upset PETA, who has asked Prime Video or any other production company to avoid using animals on shoots.

PETA senior vice president Lisa Lange advised show creators to use “use CGI, mechanical rigs and other humane methods” instead. Now if Prime Video complies with the request put forward by PETA, then the upcoming God of War adaptation could also be heavily affected, as it is one that is heavily relied on the flora and fauna.

This change from real-life animals to CGI or any other method will undoubtedly have drastic effects too. If they don’t use proper effects, then it could even hamper the quality of the scene as well. Poor CGI effects have affected a lot of films, and that has been evidently seen recently as well.

PETA wanted Santa Monica to remove animal violence from GoW: Ragnarok

If Prime Video decides to not use animals in the God of War adaptation or completely remove it from the series, then it wouldn’t be the first time this PlayStation series fell victim to PETA. The animal rights organization asked Santa Monica Studios last year to remove violence against animals from God of War Ragnarok.

PETA made these complaints especially because of the fight against the 60 feet tall wolf named Gram, who is chained in the Hel. They wanted Santa Monica to create a “PETA mode,” where players won’t have to fight the giant wolf. But the game doesn’t seem to have such a mode yet.
