God of War: Ragnarok Dominated at the 2022 Game Awards Despite Elden Ring Winning the ‘Game of the Year’ Title

God of War: Ragnarok and Elden Ring were the two most debated video game titles among the fans to win the Game of the Year Title. But that debate finally concluded with the latter taking the prestigious award. But on taking a look at overall performance at Game Awards, Ragnarok bagged more trophies than their rival.
Ragnarok is an action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studios for PlayStation. It is a sequel to the 2018 title, as Ragnarok takes place three years after the events of the previous game. Meanwhile, Elden Ring is a role-playing game by FromSoftware for multiple platforms. In this game, the player creates a customized character and sets on a journey to repair the Elden Ring to become the new Elden Lord.

Both video games performed great this year and had excellent sales after their release. But God of War was the more dominant one at the prestigious award show. The PlayStation exclusive won six titles at the Game Award 2022, while Elden Ring only won four.

God of War: Ragnarok is now the Best Action-Adventure Game this year, as it received a Game Award for this category. It was also awarded for excellent Audio Design and Score & Music. Moreover, fans got to enjoy the amazing music of the latest God of War title at the 2022 Game Awards.

The latest installment in the God of War series has always been praised for its storytelling. As a result, they bagged the Game Award for the Best Narrative as well. The other two awards won by Santa Monica Studios’ latest creation were for their Innovation of Accessibility and for Christopher Judge’s Performance as Kratos.
Meanwhile, Elden Ring took the grand title of Game of the Year. It won an award for being the best role-playing game this year. The other two awards were for the Best Game Direction and Best Art Direction of the game. Undoubtedly, Elden Ring did not surprise anyone by winning the Game of the Year, but it did come as a shock when GoW dominated in the total awards count.
