Despite being a few days away from its grand launch, the awaited PlayStation 5 sequel has already become a top contender for the Game of the Year award. At least that’s what the early critic reactions are suggesting. Moreover, it looks like Elden Ring has now truly found its match!

The anticipated title from Santa Monica Studio has become the second-highest-rated video game of 2022. Interestingly, it is only behind FromSoftware’s mega-blockbuster Elden Ring in terms of having a near-perfect score.

At the beginning of this year, Elden Ring smashed all the possible records while claiming the title of the best-rated game of 2022. After all, it gained a staggering rating of over 95 percent on the review aggregating website Metacritic. As of now, it’s having a phenomenal score of 96 on the portal. But now, it’s got a true match in the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive from Sony.

God of War Ragnarok has become the second-best-rated game of 2022, even a week before its awaited debut. Going by the current ratings by the top media outlets and Metacritic, the PS5 exclusive seems to be in a league of its own.

God of War Takes Time Square by Storm Ahead of an Awaited PlayStation Sequel’s Debut

To begin with, IGN has showered a perfect 10 out of 10 on Ragnarok and the same is true in the case of sites like Gfinity and Push Square. Moreover, GamingTrend has given the game a whopping rating of 100 out of 100 in its review. On the other hand, GameInformer has also praised the anticipated sequel, giving it a solid 9.5 out of 10. GameSpot‘s score is also great, being an impressive 9 out of 10.

Furthermore, Twinfinite also applauded the amazing gameplay mechanics of the God of War Ragnarok. The website gave it a perfect 5 out of 5. We Got This Covered and VGC also gave the PS5 exclusive a shining score of 5 out of 5, respectively. Other popular outlets like GamesRadar, Eurogamer, and TheGamer gave it a strong rating of 4.5 out of 5, 4 out of 5, and 4 out of 5.

Coming to the highly followed website Metacritic, then as of this writing, it has given God of War Ragnarok a whopping score of 94 percent for the PS5. The rating is based on 117 critic reviews so far. It’s only behind Elden Ring now, in terms of getting a near-perfect score from the review aggregating portal.
