And for people who have yet to start their journey with Kratos and Atreus, we have a few tips and tricks to make your first playthrough more fruitful. Following these tips would make your journey through the nine realms even more fun and less painful. So without further delay, here are the 10 tips and tricks one must pay heed to when playing for the first time:

1. Kill all of Odin’s Ravens:

In God of war 2018, you could see green Ravens flying around that you could kill with your Axe. You can find similar Ravens in Ragnarok, but this time around, killing them can get you better armor and equipment.

So we suggest you keep an eye out for the Ravens and kill them wherever you go. You can check how many Ravens you have killed and how many remain in the completion tab on the map screen.

2. Keep completing Labors:

One of the ways to keep getting XP fast in God of War Ragnarok is to complete labors. Like the previous installment, labors are small tasks that give you XP on completion.

Labors can range from killing a certain number of enemies to killing a certain number of enemies using a particular weapon. You can keep track of labors that you have already completed on your Map screen.

3. Don’t get fixated on unreachable areas:

God of War Ragnarok has several locations and items hidden or locked behind certain kinds of hurdles. These hurdles might not be achievable at that point in time as you lack the resources.

But, while playing through the story, you will keep getting equipment to help you cross those hurdles. So, keep at your main path, and return to the hidden and locked areas when you have unlocked everything.

4. Turn On Auto Pickup:

In God of War Ragnarok, enemies drop loot, and you have to pick up that loot manually if you don’t have auto pickup turned on.

Now, during your fights in arenas full of numerous enemies, you can find yourself surrounded by stuff to pick once the fight is over, so we suggest you turn on Auto pickup. Auto Pickup would also automatically pick healing items during a fight, so you can stay focused on the fight instead of looking for healing stones. It would make your life way easier.

5. Tap the Triangle:

When using Blades of Chaos’s Flame Whiplash attack, tap it quickly instead of holding the triangle button on your PlayStation, as this will help your blades charge faster. Holding triangle works, too, but it takes too long to charge that way. And that is not something one would want when fighting tougher opponents.

6. Turn on Mini-Boss checkpoints:

This game has several mini-bosses, and some of them are even harder than the regular bosses. Fighting such challenging foes can become a chore if you keep dying. Our suggestion is to turn on mini-boss checkpoints so you don’t have to start your fight from the start in case you die.

7. You can extend puzzle timings:

Remember those bell puzzles, where you hit those bell-looking things with your axe, and you have to hit three before the bell hum diminishes? You can now increase the time of those hums longer.

This used to be a headache in the 2018 version and many were also left disappointed not being able to receive those rewards. So as a solution to that, a great addition has been made so that you don’t have to keep on trying the same puzzle a million times.

8. Wait before picking up healing stones:

Proper management of health is crucial for the Ghost of Sparta, and in Ragnarok, your health regenerates after every fight. So our suggestion is to let Kratos’s health regenerate first before picking all the healing stones in the arena. Because picking up without the regeneration would put you at risk for the next fight, unless you find some more on the way.

9. Spam your abilities:

In Ragnarok, you can only level up your abilities to the highest level by spamming them. You just find the biggest enemy you can and attack your foe with the same attack repeatedly. It would help you level up your attack way faster.

10. Remember your Shield:

In the heat of a fight, people just forget that they have a shield. The Shield in God of War: Ragnarok is your best friend. No matter how you play, defensive or offensive, the shield would always come in handy. Along with protection from most of the attacks, you can even stun the enemies if it is used to counter their attacks at the right time.
