Following Xbox‘s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, almost all Xbox services and products have seen a surge in sales. The Xbox Game Pass is one of the biggest sources of revenue for Microsoft and the company aims to keep things that way. Now, it even looks like the Xbox cloud gaming service is standing toe to toe with PlayStation‘s counterpart in some cases. Gotham Knights, one of the most-awaited games of 2022, reported better opening week data on the Game Pass than on PS+.

Warner Bros. Games’ title was slammed by fans at release for coming with a 30 FPS cap on next-gen consoles. However, that doesn’t seem to stop Xbox users from flocking in numbers to play Gotham Knights via the Game Pass.

A recent X (formerly known as Twitter) post is doing the rounds on social media that depicts the performance of Gotham Knights on cloud gaming platforms. The game arrived on PlayStation Plus weeks after it was available through the Xbox Game Pass. According to the data, it can be seen that the game’s reception on the Game Pass was much higher than what it was on the PS platform.

More than 6% of the total number of Xbox users played Gotham Knights after its availability on the Game Pass. On the other hand, the PlayStation platform saw below 3% of their total user base. However, despite the difference in the initial weeks, the number of total players is more or less the same on both platforms currently.

A couple of months ago, Jim Ryan, PS CEO claimed that Xbox doesn’t cater to the needs of the publishers with its Game Pass. However, recent shifts in the industry have changed dimensions significantly as the Game Pass looks to make community members happy by bringing more and more popular titles under its fold.

Days ago, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer said that the company is focused on developing a community. Instead of competing for the lion’s share of the console market, Xbox wants to build a fan following across platforms. After the takeover of the Call of Duty developers, this goal makes more sense from a sales point of view.

With that in mind, Xbox is looking to bring more and more games to its cloud services. Understandably, the prospect of gaining access to more games is also making it easy for gamers to opt for Xbox platforms.
