Grammy Award Winner Cardi B Lost a Multi-Million Dollar Call of Duty Contract Due to a “Stupid Decision”

Video games collaborating with superstars are nothing new. Big games like Cyberpunk, Fortnite, Death Stranding, and many more have featured massive Hollywood stars and musical artists before. And Call of Duty is no exception in this field. Massive actors like Jeff Goldblum and Michael Keaton have joined the CoD cast before. 

But this time CoD tried a different approach by asking one of the biggest female rappers, Cardi B for a collaboration. Fans were beyond ecstatic hearing this news. However, Cardi B announced on her Twitter that she has lost the Call of Duty deal because of some “stupid mistakes” of the past.

Why did Cardi B lose the Call of Duty Deal?

Call of Duty is a massive franchise, pulling in billions of dollars of revenue each year. Each new release arguably becomes the best-selling game of its respective year. Their marketing campaigns are also on par with their reputation. They pull in big athletes, movie stars, online content creators, and popstars for their marketing campaigns or to feature in their games.

This time, Cardi B was expected to be the major celebrity featured in the marketing campaign for the new Call of Duty game. It was a multi-million dollar deal to promote the game. The fans were also very excited about the collaboration.

On 28th September, on her official Twitter handle, she announced that she has lost the multi-million dollar deal because of her past mistakes. She had to go to the court, which made her miss the shoot for the game. 

She said, “My stupid decisions from the past caused me to miss out on money now. I had a multi-million dollar Call of Duty deal on the table that I couldn’t take because of court. Guys think twice about those quick decisions! Lesson learned.”

She also made a tweet clarifying why she had to leave the deal. She replied to a fan by saying, “I couldn’t make it cause of court couple weeks ago … I wasn’t able to do the shoot on time”. 

How did her fans react? 

Fans were heartbroken and also angry at the news. Some fans were a little displeased about Call of Duty featuring Cardi B but some supported their favorite rapper. The overall reception to her tweet was very much mixed:
