The last big update on the project was made back in February 2022. The tweet read, With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we’ve previously delivered. We’re pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.”

All the gamers who had been eagerly waiting for an update know the tweet accounts for a celebration.

The build-up to the announcement

The sixth installment to Grand Theft Auto has to be the most anticipated project in recent years. Branded as the ‘Most Expensive Entertainment Product’ of all time, Rockstar’s upcoming giant has a whole new set of expectations to match.

The build-up to the official confirmation has been quite an eventful journey. While there were constant speculations that had their own versions of dates set for a trailer or update announcement, the silence from the developers only became more frustrating each day. There was the case of the infamous breach/leak seen in gaming, which gave away a lot of details about the game. In response, Take-Two issued copyright strikes to take down leaks.

The onlyother big credible tease that the fans got for a possible schedule was earlier this year during Take-Two’s fiscal report.

During the earnings call, the Take-Two chief talked about the financial projections of the game.

Page 3 of the report read, “Our forecast reflects the challenging consumer backdrop, as well as an extension of the development timelines for several high-profile, long-awaited titles in our pipeline. We believe that we will enter our next phase of growth in Fiscal 2025, as we plan to deliver several groundbreaking titles that we anticipate will set new standards of quality and success and enable us to deliver over $8 billion in Net Bookings.” Long awaited groundbreaking titles? These remarks seemed to be a clear reference to GTA 6.
