Back when Insomniac and Sony released Marvel’s Spider-Man for PlayStation 4, people were overwhelmed by the amount of freedom it offered. It was also one of the few licensed games to have a story where players actually felt connected to the characters and cast of the game.

The only big issue that the game’s fans had was that Harry Osborn was nowhere to be seen in the game. He was heard in the game when giving players some exposition on some of the side missions. But other than that, he was nowhere to be seen.

The exclusion of Harry Osborn from Marvel’s Spider-Man disappointed some players. But they got good news when it was revealed in 2020’s Spider-Man Miles Morales that the character was being set up as Venom for PlayStation 5 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Now that the game’s possible reveal draws closer (possibly during The Game Awards), Harry Osborn’s voice actor Scott Porter has revealed that he would not be playing Harry in the sequel. The actor recently revealed that due to Insomniac’s decision to go Photorealistic with Spider-man 2’s visuals, it would not be possible for him to play the character.

Now, for those who don’t know, Scott Porter is the actor who portrayed Heimdall in the recent PlayStation blockbuster, God of War: Ragnarok. So there’s hardly a doubt about his acting skills here. But the actor says, he is still excited about the upcoming game and it would be “an incredible game”

Insomniac has Swapped actors before

Fans of Spider-Man must be aware that this is not the first time Insomniac games has decided to switch actors for the series. When they released Spider-Man Remastered for Playstation 5, they changed Peter parker’s original face model John Bubniak, in favor of a more Tom Holland-esque Ben Jordan.

We are not here to judge Insomniac’s decisions in any way, cause a Game developer and director knows best. And we can’t wait to see how the game turns out when it releases in 2023. We must also not forget that Insomniac is working on one more game based on a Marvel property, that is Wolverine. These might be two of Playstation5’s most anticipated games. So let us wait for The Game Awards and see if we get a look at either of these games there.
