Naughty Dog is the famous American video game publishing company that is behind so many great games like Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Dexter, Uncharted, and The Last of Us. Now Naughty Dog is once again coming up with another gift for us.

This developer is on the verge of announcing a new title. Speculation has started that it could be a new The Last of Us title. It might be a single-player game as well. So, what will it be? Let’s find out.

Druckmann’s indications regarding Naughty Dog’s new single-player project

Right now, Naughty Dog has a new single-player game in the works. The company was expected to show off the multiplayer project of The Last of Us, called The Last of Us: Factions 2, at the PlayStation showcase in March. Later on, in May, they announced that they were focusing completely on a new single-player project. They also stated that the Last of Us game will be given some time for development before it gets an entry in the multiplayer scenario.

Neil Druckmann, the Co-President of Naughty Dog, has revealed that they are presently working on multiple projects. Three of the most significant projects among them are The Last of Us Faction 2, the new single-player IP, and The Last of Us 3. But as things stand, their foremost priority is this exclusive PS5 single-player title.

Druckmann also confirmed in mid-2021 that they have a set of projects that are currently being worked on. Among these projects, two could be Legacy of Thieves or The Last of Us Remake. He then went on to state, I’m making something very cool.” This was a clear indication that, of these projects, the cool one was the single-player IP.

Every rumor and hint Regarding this New IP

On Naughty Dog’s writer/narrative resume, Josh Scherr states that this new project has been in development for 3 years now, as he has been working on it since May 2020. A credible leaker, Ralph, stated back in 2021 that this new project of the company will feature their first Black lead.

This leak gained a lot of traction as Naughty Dog shared a job vacancy for the post of Animation Programmer in late 2021. But the most interesting part about this is that they indicated in their job description that the post is for a separate single-player project. Regarding this post, Jeremy Yates, Co-Head of Art at Naughty Dog, stated this: “Y’all know this means we’re up to SOMETHING big.”

According to rumors, this single-player game will be a science fiction or fantasy title. Some rumors from 2019 suggested that this sci-fi IP would be named ‘Strays Cross.’

So, every rumor and leak has been pointing to a new single-player title from Naughty Dog for a very long time. Now it’s up to Neil and his team to announce this title as soon as possible and raise this growing anticipation way higher.
