Elon Musk has a brief history with video games beyond the capacity of just being a gamer. The billionaire actually dabbled into the world of game development and even lend his hand to a number of projects. The SpaceX founder was interested in exploring the vast landscape of the endless vacuum at an early age. His stint in the gaming world saw him developing a few FMV games.

In a recent short clip that surfaced on the internet, Musk along with his mother talked a bit about his humble beginning. He stated that at just the age of 12, he actually build a shooter title, Blastar that featured a space battling against aliens. This project ended up earning him $500, which must have made it quite a compelling career for him to explore.

What did Elon Musk do as a game developer?

Musk’s first major project may have only featured just basic directional controls and one useable weapon. The Tesla owner aspired to do more in this business but sadly, he did not get the right role that he envisioned. Musk found himself working for Rocket Science Games (RGS) and was responsible for writing the drivers, designing the control interface, organizing the routine, and so on.

He never got the chance to explore VFX and other intriguing aspects of the project, and after this Musk also aided in the production of another FMV game RGS but only this time it was published by Sega. This project was known as Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: The Second Cataclysm.

The short-lived career in the video games industry may haven’t panned out how Musk had anticipated, but he is still keeping in touch with his gamer side. In one of his tweets, the businessman took aim at Rockstar Games for milking GTA V to the ground. He shared a pretty on-point meme, which incited a response from the fans.
