The Danish video game developer company, IO Interactive, has aced the development of the highly anticipated, upcoming James Bond title. They are very confident in the title as it breaks IO’s stereotypical Hitman approach to step up into another legendary character.Although there are high ambitions for the James Bond project, there is a darkness of uncertainty looming over another IOI project. The title’s platform future still needs to be solid.

After reigning in the gaming realm with Hitman for over a decade, IO Interactive wants to repeat the journey with another famous secret agent, James Bond. This all-new game will be based on a wholly original Bond story. Since then, speculation has started about this IOI title.

James Bond in a Steady Developmental Phase

Announced in 2020, Project 007 (the working title of this game) will feature the very first James Bond origin story. IOI has also started recruiting elite talents worldwide to join the team for this dream project. Although this game won’t be an adaptation of the James Bond movies, this game will be a third-person shooter with advanced AI and sandbox levels.

In an interview at Gamelab Barcelona 2023, Senior Technical Executive Producer of IOI, Cris Vega, opens up about the possibilities and potentials of the upcoming James Bond game.

According to Vega, this game embarks upon the journey of the first Bond in the game. So, players will have a chance to enjoy a full-fledged James Bond experience. “007 is under development; it’s looking very cool,” Vega added when asked about the development situation.

Project Fantasy: Uncertainty Regarding the Platform

IO Interactive has been into another IP as well. This new IP is an online fantasy RPG. This RPG will be set in the medieval era. This RPG can be a fighting fantasy title featuring formidable foes like wizards, lizards, and thief kings. The game demands the roles of a part storyteller, AI opponent, guide, and villain.

This title was initially known as ‘Project Dragon.’ This upcoming RPG has created a buzz among fans since its announcement a few months ago. Many speculation and discussions are going on about whether this title will be a Xbox exclusive. And the belief has reached a new level because of the recent Activision acquisition.

In the same interview, Vega confirms that this game will be an online multiplayer RPG. He hints that this title might be released on both PCs and consoles. But there are no confirmations as of now.

Core Engine Programmer Álvaro Fernández remained tight-lipped about the question of the game being cross-platform or platform-exclusive. He added, “I don’t think any word came out about any specifics about this, so we cannot comment on it.”
