The battle to be the No. 1 channel on the platform, which is popularly known as the “Sub War” had become a global phenomenon. It was a struggle between an individual independent content creator and a massive company to get the reins of the platform.
Fans from the whole world came together to support the YouTuber PewDiePie with his “Subscribe to PewDiePie” movement. They went over the top and beyond with their efforts to help the subscriber count. MrBeast was also one of them. He sees Pewds as his idol, so it was inevitable for him to help the Swedish YouTube star hold his throne.

Around 49 people were killed in the shootout. The Shooter scrawled a plethora of memes on the spot as his manifesto, including the “Subscribe to PewDiePie” slogan.

After the whole Sub War, Jimmy started gaining a lot of attention. And with hard work, determination, and an innovative mind, Jimmy turned the attention to some insane numbers. His channel grew at record-breaking speed, dwarfing all his competitors.
Now, in November 2022, when the war is a distant memory of internet history. MrBeast has done something no one could have imagined back then. He has accumulated 114 million subscribers, surpassing his idol, PewDiePie. Even the big man himself admits that he can’t compete with Jimmy anymore.
In a YouTube short video, PewDiePie reacted to the SquidGame video by MrBeast. The quality of visuals and the overall effort put into a YouTube video shocked the former king. He said, “How Am I supposed to compete with that?“. Pewds praised MrBeast and at the same admitted that he will never do something like this, as for him YouTube is all about standing in front of a camera and “Talk Sh*t” while having fun.
