Former CEO of Nintendo, Late Satoru Iwata has been one of the pioneer figures in shaping the above phenomenon. Iwata was one of the key figures in the development of both GameCube and GameBoy. He had also predicted about technology reaching an advance where we can have the best of both GameCube and GameBoy. Well, this was indeed true when said because now we have the best of both worlds with the Switch Joy-Con consoles!

Satoru Iwata paved the way for Switch with his prediction in an old interview

Satoru Iwata was one of the pioneers who had redefined the gaming sector to a whole new level. In an interview with Gamespy (recorded by IGN), Iwata spoke about GCNext consoles. He speaks about the future of GameBoy and GameCube stating the immense potential both the devices have.

He also talked about the hardware development of Microsoft and said, “I think they are simply looking toward beefed-up technology for the next-generation consoles. And from the developers’ and programmers’ point of view, that kind of machine will be very difficult to work with.”

Furthermore, as stated in the above tweet, Iwata believed that combining the technologies of both GameCube and GameBoy would be a fundamental technological advancement, very much crucial for the gaming community. This is visible in the form of the Nintendo Switch being the best of all of Nintendo’s worlds. Switch even allows you to emulate old Nintendo console games which proves Iwata’s point about its potential.

He had said, “The abilities of GCNext will be different from what you have seen from consoles in the past. What Nintendo is currently discussing is not about state-of-the-art technology for enhancing processing power. What I, Miyamoto, and Mr. Takeda are discussing is what should be done to entertain people in a new way.”

It is really great to see how Nintendo has achieved Iwata’s dreams and ambitions and is still leading within the gaming industry.
