Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, is the most-subscribed content creator on YouTube, with 126 million subscribers and counting. He became a prominent figure on YouTube for hosting big-scale challenges and exotic giveaways. The YouTuber has given away many things ranging from small giveaways to an island, of which an account is hard to be kept of.

This tradition of his has been going on for years, and reports suggest that MrBeast conducted giveaways worth around $8 million in the year 2022. The YouTuber himself is a millionaire, and Forbes claimed he’s on the way to becoming a billionaire. But the question that gets stuck in everyone’s mind is how he spent over three million dollars on giveaways. So, let’s unravel that here.

$95,000 for completing a complex escape room

The first video he released in 2022 was about escaping a complex escape room. In the video, an unnamed competitor had to escape from a set full of challenging obstacles, like a room full of spikes and a jungle with real snakes.

However, there was also a lucrative prize for escaping from MrBeast’s “World’s Most Dangerous Escape Room, ” which was $100,000. But the contestant couldn’t take home more than $95,000, as he gave up on $5,000 for a clue.

$240,000 for swimming with sharks, staying in a freezing room, and tightrope-walking across a canyon

MrBeast’s second video was “Would You Swim With Sharks For $100,000.” As the video’s title suggests, he made his friend Chris Tyson dive among sharks to retrieve a backpack full of $100,000, which he gave to a fan.

But this wasn’t the only challenge MrBeast had in this video. He also made fellow YouTuber Airrack spend hours in a freezing room for which he received $10,000 for each hour. The YouTuber stayed for over eight hours and eventually won $80,000 which he gave to another fan.

Donaldson further gave away $40,000 to a contestant for doing nothing. He also gave $20,000 to another contestant for tightrope-walking across two 1000-feet canyons. Cumulating them all, he gave away $240,000 in this video.

Spend 22 days in a luxurious prison to buy an engagement ring for

Jimmy Donaldson made a contestant named Josh spend 22 days inside a prison full of elegant items. As a reward for this, he would earn $10,000 for spending each day in that prison.

He eventually ended up winning $340,000 thanks to a hidden $100,000 check in the prison. Moreover, Josh used $20,000 of the winning amount to buy an engagement ring to propose to his girlfriend.

MrBeast spent $613,000 on Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory

After recreating the Squid Game, Donaldson recreated Willy Wonka’s famous chocolate factory. In the video, the YouTuber presented ten contestants with the opportunity to win the chocolate factory or get $500,000.

Eventually, YouTuber Dallin Lambert took home $500,000 after going through various challenges. Additionally, MrBeast gave away a $3,000 TV, candy made of gold nuggets, and $10,000 to the second runner-up. So, Donaldson ended up giving away $613,000 in the video.

Battle of Sexes for $500,000

The epic tennis clash of Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs in 1973 is popularly known as the Battle of Sexes. With a comparable take to this, MrBeast hosted a similar competition, where he made 100 men compete against 100 women with the ultimate prize of $500,000.

Both sides had to stay for 100 hours to win $500,000, meaning each individual would receive $5,000. It was the women’s side that eventually grabbed the victory.

Giving away a private island to a subscriber

MrBeast achieved a remarkable milestone last year, reaching the 100 million subscribers mark. So, the YouTube star decided to give away a private island worth $2 million to celebrate this achievement. But he invited 100 subscribers and had them participate in various challenges.

The 100 subscribers eventually were narrowed down to just five who had to find Donaldson’s YouTube 100 million Play button. A subscriber finally found it and became the lucky winner of the island.

Playing an expensive hide-and-seek game in a mall

The 100 million YouTuber gave suitcases containing $10,000 to 100 subscribers. He then asked them to hide anywhere in the gigantic mall. But MrBeast and his crew would look for those contestants, and those able to hide till the time hit the 10-hour mark, would keep the money.

Later in the video, Donaldson called up a SWAT team to help find those hiding for a bounty of $60,000. He also brought in more collaborators whom he promised to buy their moms a boat. Eventually, 23 contestants stayed hidden, meaning Jimmy gave away $230,000.

Living in a circle alone for $500,000

Donaldson had a subscriber live alone inside a red circle for 100 days for the ultimate award of $500,000. Although the contestant received all the necessary items to survive, the subscriber was constantly annoyed by MrBeast and his team. But he didn’t give up.

The YouTube star ever offered $100,000 and $250,000 for him to quit early. However, the contestant refused and eventually won the $500,000. Moreover, the video recently got over 100 million views, and the subscriber joined the MrBeast crew.

MrBeast gave away $40,000 while exploring various hotels throughout the world

In October 2022, Donaldson released a video where he and his friends traveled across the world, trying various hotels. He also rented a cruise ship for an hour for $75,000. On the ship, he asked two staff to look for $100,000 hidden across the ship in cheques.

The staff members had limited time to look for the cheques, and they could keep whatever they discover. But they could only find $40,000 out of the $100,000.

A $2.5 million private jet challenge

Jimmy Donaldson assembled a group of YouTubers and had them compete for a $2.5 million private jet. He had them place their hands on the jet, and the last to remove the hand keeps the jet.

All competitors tried to eliminate each other, but they were prohibited from pushing each other. Even MrBeast tried to make the challenge difficult to narrow down the number of competitors. Eventually, Harry “WroeToShaw” Lewis won the private jet, which he gave to his brother and sister.

Kids vs Adults for $500,000

If the Battle of Sexes wasn’t enough, MrBeast later hosted a Battle of Generations or simply kids versus adults. Donaldson gathered 100 kids and 100 adults and shut them in a closed room for 100 hours with all the necessary supplies to stay there to win $500,000.

Many kids and adults left the room accidentally and willingly, which led to the competition ending with only 25 kids and 49 adults. The winner was pretty clear and the adults won the $500,000 prize while the surviving 25 kids were also offered $1,000.
