Swedish YouTube sensation, Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg aka PewDiePie was the top dog of YouTube for a long time. He is considered one of the pioneers who paved the path of modern-day gaming content on YouTube. But how did the legendary YouTuber’s journey begin? Below, we have discussed the crazy roots of PewDiePie. 

Ever since his childhood, Pewds has been an introvert. For him, playing games was an escape that helped him cope with the challenges of everyday life. As he grew up, Felix discovered a lot about himself and his creative prowess. The medium of digital art attracted the young heart of Felix the most. 

How did PewDiePie start his journey?

Although he was born into a well-off family, Felix still struggled in his early days. Before dropping from college and starting full-time YouTube, Pewds famously sold hotdogs on the streets to make ends meet. But that wasn’t enough for him to fund his necessary setup and pieces of equipment needed to start making videos. 

Felix loved making art using Photoshop. He trained himself to make creative designs, just by using the tool. Initially, he decided to utilize his digital art skills in professional sectors. Felix had almost managed to bag an apprenticeship in one of the most reputed ad agencies in Scandinavia but failed to land the job. 

“It was between me and another person but then I didn’t get the job and I was like f**k,” said Pewds. After getting rejected by the ad agency, Felix took the freelancer path and committed himself to making digital art using Photoshop. Surprisingly, his limited edition Photoshop art actually sold for good money.

“I wanted to YouTube as well, so I managed to sell some of these pictures because I printed like a limited edition. Enough to buy like a computer and when I had a computer I could start making videos,” added PewDiePie on how his epic story of his began. After getting his revenue from selling the paintings, Pewds bought his system and started recording himself while playing games, and the rest is history.
