“Love’s all that really matters”, there’s no better character than Spider-Man who reflects the idea of the famous quote. And Insomniac Games, with one of the side missions in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, didn’t leave the opportunity to express the same in their style. Peter Parker’s heartwarming ‘love lesson’ during a side quest in the latest PlayStation exclusive has left the fans teary-eyed.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been advertised as the ultimate Spider-Man experience in terms of characters and storyline. Considering the initial responses to the game, Insomniac Games has certainly kept to its promises. Not just with the main storyline, the developers seem to have outdone the expectations with the side missions as well. However, this one-sided mission has taken the fans by surprise as an NPC takes the limelight away from Peter Parker.

Very few interactions with NPCs, that too in a side mission, have the ability to hit you hard with emotions. Apparently, Insomniac Games has mastered the art in the “Finding Grandpa” side-mission in the game. The challenge involves a call for help by a lady looking for her grandfather. However, as things unfold further, the character of Grandpa Earl makes you feel a void. Just for context, here’s what one of the players has to say about the story.

Refrain from any spoilers because this wholesome mission deserves a first-hand visual experience. As a character, Peter Parker has always been a preacher of love and effort. But being the neighborhood Spider-Man does affect his time with MJ. The chaos and challenge that the powers bring into his relationship with loved ones are beautifully portrayed by the developers in both creations. Thus, the characters resonate so well with the webheads.

All Spider-Man fans know “with great powers come great responsibilities”. But looking back at every compromise Peter had to make as a character makes you feel the pain.

Yuri Lowenthal, the voice of Peter Parker in Sony’s virtual Spidey-verse, also talked about the traumatic experiences the hero has been through. “I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, so there’s more trauma for Peter. It’s not gonna get any easier on Peter. Oh no!’ And then I realized that nothing ever gets easier for Peter, so it kind of tracked. But one of the things that immediately keyed me in was how all the relationships change, both with relationships that he’s had in the previous games with characters like Miles and MJ, but also getting to see and develop relationships with people like Harry, which is a hugely important relationship in this game,” he said in a recent interview.
