After a plethora of teases and leaks, the official trailer of the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat game is finally here! Being one of the most iconic titles in the history of fighting games, fans were eagerly waiting for an official reveal of the next mainline entry of the classic series.
Previously the NetherRealm Studios had revealed two teaser trailers that had given a faint idea of what the new game was going to be. The teaser had kindled a plethora of theories and speculation circulating all around the internet, desperately trying to decipher the meaning behind the trailer. And with the release of the latest trailer, all the rumors were proven true!

On May 18, 2023, the world finally witnessed the highly anticipated reveal trailer of the upcoming MK game. Proving all the previous rumors true, it was revealed that the upcoming game will indeed be a reboot of the very first game in the series, but with significant changes in character backstories as well as new additions.

It has been announced that MK1 will be released on September 19, 2023, and will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The base game will feature fighters such as Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and a few others.
Warner Bros. Games stated that the reboot “will introduce a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe that has been created by the Fire God Liu Kang, featuring reimagined versions of iconic characters as they’ve never been seen before,” making it evident that the Mortal Kombat universe as we know it will undergo significant changes.

Pre-orders for the game will open on May 19, and three editions will be available: Mortal Kombat 1 Standard Edition ($69.99 SRP), Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition ($109.99 SRP), and Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition ($249.99 SRP). The Kollector’s edition will include a 16.5-inch Liu Kang sculpture designed by COARSE.
