A 17-year-old student in Florida was arrested for brutally beating a teacher unconscious over a Nintendo Switch console. The disturbing video of this incident has recently gone viral, which has shaken the entire internet. Thankfully, the teacher has recovered recently, but her recent revelation regarding the incident has taken a shocking turn.

The teacher never took the Nintendo Switch
This incident occurred at the Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, Florida on February 21. A 17-year-old, 6’6″ tall student, Brendan Depa, charged at a 57-year-old assistant teacher, Joan Naydich. According to Mirror, the student attacked her for confiscating his Nintendo Switch. But the teacher recently denied doing so, “I just want to set the record straight. I never took the Nintendo Switch from him.”

The CCTV footage of the incident revealed the student stomped the female educator until she lost consciousness. The school’s staff members soon rushed to pull the boy away from her. The 57-year-old teacher was immediately taken to the hospital for proper medical help.

The 17-year-old will be presented at the Seventh Judicial Court of Florida on March 6 to hear the charges. The local Sheriff reported, “This student is just six months shy of age 18, and it was also a brutal attack on this teacher. Fortunately, this didn’t result in a fatality. This could be a homicide we are talking about.”

Joan Naydich is grateful for the support
Naydich’s family members and close ones have created a fundraiser page to help her get aid for recovery. The page has collected over $91,362 at the time of writing and is only a few dollars away from reaching its expected goal. The 57-year-old is “overwhelmed” with all the support she received across the globe during this situation.
She wrote on the page, “Your contributions are lessening that burden and I’m truly grateful! I’m hopeful that the awareness of this incident being spread far and wide will prevent anyone else from ever dealing with the trauma, physical healing, and disruption of everyday life that this has caused. It’s touching to know that so many cares. This certainly wasn’t how I saw my son’s senior year turning out for our family.”
