After playing the iconic role of Donkey Kong in the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie adaptation actor Seth Rogen is highly motivated to take the character on a unique journey. Being one of the oldest characters in the franchise, Seth thinks Donkey Kong should also get the spotlight.

However, among them, the most iconic and significant is undoubtedly the Super Mario Franchise. The Series has been so influential and well-received that it is perceived as the face of Nintendo.

Seth Rogen is on Board for a Donkey Kong Spin-off series

It is commonly believed that Super Mario Bros. 1985 was the first game that featured the iconic Italian plumber as the protagonist. But the truth is, back in 1981 Nintendo released a game called, Donkey Kong, which was the first entry where Mario could be seen as a hammer-wielding hero, on a quest to save the princess from the clutches of the brash and wild, Donkey Kong.

Although DK made his debut as a villain, over the years, Nintendo released a set of games featuring him as the protagonist. However, his brash and savage nature was still present in the later titles. When asked if Seth would be down for a Donkey Kong movie based on his games, In an interview with Comicbook, Rogen said, “It would be fun. I honestly had a great time doing it and I think like it’s a big world, gigantic, and it seems to be a thing that people are excited to see.”

There has been speculation that Nintendo and the animation studio Illumination are looking forward to creating a rich universe with the Super Mario Bros. movie as the starting step. If the rumors are true, then the chances are very high that spinoffs or movies with Donkey Kong and other characters such as Luigi, Peach, and Bowser could be a possibility in the future.

Director’s thoughts on Chris Pratt as Mario
