With 3 months to go in 2023, gamers can look back and believe it has been a good year. However, it’s not over yet. In fact, it’s far from over. There have been big releases like Baldur’s Gate 3, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Starfield, and more. There has also been talk about Silent Hill 2. Horror fans have surely heard of it. Now, Indie developers have added to what has already been a thrilling year for gamers. An indie developer has taken Unreal Engine 5’s capabilities for an upcoming horror game. And the glimpse that was shared completely blew away the fans’ minds. 

While horror fans wait for the highly anticipated survival horror Silent Hill 2 remake, it may be time to step aside and make way for another horror title, “Dont Scream.”

Indie developers’ upcoming horror game set to bring chills

An industry insider recently shared a gameplay reveal trailer on X (formerly Twitter) of an upcoming horror game titled Don’t Scream. The post states that this game is developed by two independent developers on Unreal Engine 5. However, what sparked the interest among the community is the ending of the clip. 

The video shows a first-person perspective gameplay, where the player navigates between a dense dark forest. And in every direction, it’s just trees and a few objects. And it’s very dark. These elements are truly enough to scare the bravest of people. And if the visuals aren’t scary enough, the eerie noises in the background make it all the more ominous. And the part that caught everyone’s attention was the end of the video. The screen goes black and there’s an unsettling noise in the background. And on the screen appears, “YOU SCREAMED, PRESS ANY KEY TO RESTART.”

This clip ends with this upcoming indie horror game’s early access date announcement. And it is on the 27th of October.

Only PC users with access to Steam will be able to try this game out. While there’s 13 (coincidence) days to go for early access, fans are freaking out.

Good time to be a horror aficionado

Since the gameplay reveal trailer of Don’t Scream was posted on X, the community has absolutely taken no moment to rest but express their excitement to try something new out like this game.

One user appeared hyped, expressing their desire to play the game. They commented, ” I WANNA PLAY BABY.” 

One fan thinks players can avoid being detected when they scream by just putting off the mic.

Another user has taken a hilarious dig at the idea of starting over after screaming

One user is so impressed by the gameplay, they’ve likened to a film for its realistic look.

Overall, fans were completely intrigued, and surely want to try this game out as soon as its early access releases. 

Horror fans should gear up for 27th October to check out early access. It will be interesting to see the reception it gets. While the full game is not available, the steam page states Planned Release Date: 2023, if that’s any indication.
